Offering Encouragement To Others

Today’s message talks about how we, as Christians, need to offer encouragement to those in need who feel like they are failures.

(Not a word for word transcript of the video messge)

We live in a day and age where it is very easy for folks to get discouraged and often times, they really need a little encouragement.
Often we find our friends are really discouraged, is there anything we can do or say to make them feel better? Absolutely there are, first make sure that everything you say is kind and positive. If a person is down, they don’t need to be kicked with criticism.

“Therefore, laying aside falsehood, speak truth each one of you with his neighbor, for we are members of one another.” Ephesians 4:25

Gently remind them of what God can do, and what He wants to do for and through them.
2 Chronicles 32:8
“With him is only an arm of flesh, but with us is the Lord our God to help us and to fight our battles.” And the people relied on the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.”

Be positive, compliment them on a job well done.
2 Chronicles 30:22
Then Hezekiah spoke encouragingly to all the Levites who showed good insight in the things of the Lord. So they ate for the appointed seven days, sacrificing peace offerings and giving thanks to the Lord God of their fathers.

Share God’s Instructions and connection with them
Titus 1:9
“…holding fast the faithful word which is in accordance with the teaching, so that he will be able both to exhort in sound doctrine and to refute those who contradict.”

Smile at Them
Job 29:24
“I smiled on them when they did not believe, And the light of my face they did not cast down.”

Keep encouraging them to hold fast to the principles of taith nd to take action with those principles. Encouragement is more that hollow praise. (Barnabas is known as the Great Encourager – his encouragement of John Mark helped Mark become a faithful disciple
Acts 11:23
Then when he arrived and witnessed the grace of God, he rejoiced and began to encourage them all with [b]resolute heart to remain true to the Lord;

Affirm for them that the work they are doing is for God. Affirmation is a seal of approval on words of encouragement
Philippians 1:6
For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.

It’s important to remember that none of us walk alone in this world, there are those who can help us when we need encouragement and there are those we can help when we see they need encouragement. Remember there is a sunrise coming and the new day offers new choices.
