In Times Of Trouble

Don't let trouble dry out your soul

I am pretty much like everyone else, whenever I face trouble in my life, I have a tendency to worry about it.  Oh, I know I probably shouldn’t worry and just trust in God, unfortunately, that is sometimes easier said than done.  I find myself repeating the words in Matthew 6:34, “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” I get it, and I appreciate those words, they do offer comfort.  I still have a tendency to worry, especially when bills are coming due.  Eventually I do find myself beginning to relax and opening my mind and heart to the Holy Spirit.  That act provides me with a way to look at the trouble I am facing in a new light.

Of course, I know the answer is also in scripture and I realize I have to be open to options to find a solution.  The solution to the trouble I am facing is often in timing.  In Ecclesiastes 8:6, we find, “For there is a proper time and procedure for every delight, though a man’s trouble is heavy upon him.” Once I begin to relax and just think and turn everything over to God, it starts to work out.

So the next time you are facing some type of trouble, take a deep breath, try to relax, and open up your bible or go to google and time, turn to God. Remember, “God is our refuge and strength,” Psalm 46:1. Advice and a promise that has lasted for thousands of years.
