It’s been awhile and it’s time to focus once again on the Gospel

In Hebrews 6:5-7, we read. “and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, and then have fallen away, to restore them again to repentance, since they again crucify to themselves the Son of God and put Him to open shame. For ground that drinks the rain which often falls on it and produces vegetation useful to those for whose sake it is also tilled, receives a blessing from God;” As I was musing over this bit of scripture, I wondered if I had fallen away; after all, I used to be able to produce a podcast episode fairly often, or at least write a message, but after August my focus shifted elsewhere.
I still read the bible, I still post on twitter and facebook and try to get the messages across but it hasn’t been my main focus. I think I became discouraged during the election, not by the results, but by how people responded to the results. I witnessed more anger and hatred and lying than I had ever seen. People just wanting to lash out, and honestly I lost some friends when I refused to engage in the same vitriol they were expressing. So I decided to take a vacation, and then in February I started an internet radio station, “The Country Music Time Traveler”
Every Sunday is devoted to the best in Classic Country Gospel Music and some of my messages are scattered throughout the day and the focus is on being positive. When I saw the reaction to the station and to my posts on Twitter and Facebook, that got me thinking that maybe, just maybe there are those out there who still do appreciate a positive teaching about the Gospel of Jesus. I read that there are many young people who no longer believe in God and I understand that. In my opinion, it’s not their fault, and it’s not the fault of the schools. It is the fault of their parents and our churches for not showing them the positive affects that Jesus can have on their lives. We live in a sick and searching society, people are empty and looking to fill that emptiness with something, anything, and if we regain our focus on Christ we can help them heal.
Remember Jesus said in Mark 2:17 “And hearing this, Jesus *said to them, “It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick; I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” It is time for all Christians to let go of the anger, let go of our prejudices, let go of our self-righteous feelings, and focus on spreading the good news of the Gospel. I’m going to try and be more consistent with my messages, and also in the way I live my life. If you want to refresh your memory about some of the past audio messages they are located here.
Remember with God all things are possible, peace y’all
