A Joyful life, something that’s becoming harder and harder to achieve

Stay joyful
In today’s angry, often hate filled world it seems to be getting harder and harder to remain joyful. Every time you long onto the Internet or turn on the news it seems someone, somewhere is calling somebody a name and is spewing forth vitriol over every real and perceived slight.

For people whose lives used to be full of joy and who were often thought of as being joyful, it can be very draining, and they are often looked upon as if they are out of touch. There are two questions that each of us needs to ask, how can we become more joyful and a related one is, how can we remain joyful in the midst of these difficult times.

How can we become more joyful, is there anything we can do? First and foremost, as the saying goes, keep your eyes on the prize. In this case, the prize is salvation through Jesus. In Hebrews chapter 12 verse 2 we read, “fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” When we think about those words, we need to understand that Jesus suffered horribly on the cross for each of us.

When we encounter tough times if we place our focus on Jesus and what He did, then often we find some peace inside, and with peace can come a feeling of being joyful. But how do we remain joyful when everything around us seems to be falling apart and times get tough.

Well, as mentioned above focus on Jesus, but also do something that will bring glory to God. In the book of Acts in chapter 5, verse 41 the Apostles gathered to figure out what to do, after all they were being persecuted, hunted down, and often killed. After the meeting we find, ’So they went on their way from the presence of the Council, rejoicing that they had been considered worthy to suffer shame for His name.” Do something of value for the community, do something to help someone less fortunate, when we focus on others and act as a Christian should, as those who came before us acted, we will find it easier to remain joyful no matter what is happening around us.
May God bless you and bring peace into your life.
