Well, there are many reasons, you go not because you have to, instead go because you want to. Belonging to a church community creates a sense of fellowship with others and that is very beneficial to having a positive life. Now I am not going to tell you what church to attend that is a very private decision each of us must make on our own.
I can tell you of some of the benefits of joining a church community. One major reason is that it helps us strengthen our faith. When you are a member of a dynamic, vibrant church community, you will find you are not alone. In Acts chapter 14, verse 22, we find; “strengthening the souls of the disciples, encouraging them to continue in the faith, and saying, ‘Through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God.’”. Remember in the early days, the followers of Jesus were under severe persecution. They faced numerous hardships and many early followers actually left the community. By staying together and praying together, they found the strength to withstand the trials and tribulations that they encountered.
Another benefit to being in a church community is there is a sense of family and people share. Many groups have food banks, will take a person to the doctor, will sit up with them when sick; in other words, they are there for each other. Again in Acts we find, this time in Chapter 2, verse 44; “And all those who had believed were together and had all things in common;”. When you have someone you can call upon, someone you can trust, someone you can talk to about what is going on in your life then you will be able to move forward and succeed in life.
Finally when we join together we find that as is written in 1st John chapter 1, verse 7 “but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin”. The reinforcement we receive, the fellowship we find makes it easier for us to walk in the light and always stay strong.
So when you get a chance and if you do not have a church community, visit some churches, talk to the pastor, the elders, and watch how they and the congregation treat each other and visitors. After a bit, I believe you will be able to find the right home for you and your spiritual growth will be blessed.
Thanks for joining me, God bless, and peace y’all
