Worrying About The Future

We seem to spend a lot of time worrying about the future. There are commercials asking us if we are ready to face the future. It does make people ask how we can face such an uncertain future.

As a Christian, I have to believe that my future is solid because I have Jesus as the foundation of my life. Using the teachings of Jesus as the foundation, my base is much more secure than if I try to build my life on the shifting sands of pop culture and secular beliefs.

We read in Hebrews chapter 13 verse 8 “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” When I read those words, I remember that Jesus walked this earth more than 2,000 years ago and His teachings are still going strong. When you couple that with the facts that Judaism has been around for thousands of years prior to that, and giving us God’s words, then it just seems to make sense that there’s something special in those teachings that we can depend on.

In the books of Psalms, in Psalm 121 verse 8, we read, “The Lord will guard your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forever.” I know there are many today who doubt that God even exists, and that is certainly their right. It just seems to me that they are placing a great deal of trust in the here and now and forgetting the yesterdays. Our society does not really show a great deal of respect for the past and certainly does not believe that the teaching of the past can help us in our future, and that is too bad.

Because of non-belief, it seems that many people have very little peace in their lives. Whereas, if we truly trust in Jesus, then we can understand what John writes in chapter 16 verse 33, “These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.”

It is important to remember that those who wrote the gospels were there during Jesus’ time on earth. John in particular was an eyewitness and the writes had nothing to gain by telling the story of Jesus.

To me, that is what we need to understand, we do not know our future, we do know that if we trust in Jesus, it will all be OK, regardless of how we feel today.

God Bless and Peace y’all

The future is in God's hands
